Yanks dump Sheffield for quality prospects

The Yankees have received three excellent prospects for Sheffield, courtesy of the Detroit Tigers. I am unfamilar with  Kevin Whelan, but the two other players have me plenty excited:

Starter  Humberto Sanchez has great potential, and Anthony Claggett possesses some serious upside as Mariano’s heir apparent. I am ecstatic.

Euphoric.

I will dedicate a more thorough post on the trade, and my complete thoughts regarding the Gary Sheffield era, either later today or tomorrow.

Good times!

It looks to be a great trade for the Yankees. Very unlike them but a great trade none-the-less.
Depending on the financial terms of the deal, the Yanks may have just dumped salary, gained two if not three good prospects, and removed a team cancer all in one fell swoop. From a Yankee hater, I have to give Cashman props on this one.

I may have gotten a little too jacked up about Clagget, but I am so PUMPED they got a big prospect like Sanchez for Sheffield. When they picked his option up, I thought it was more trouble than it was worth. I figured we’d get a low A guy with some good numbers and potential, nothing major. Cashman is the man. Thanks for the comment.

is there an award for best GM of the year?

if so, then i’d think Cashman would get it.. from Damon to Abreu to the current deal, Cashman’s been rockin’ all year long

Indeed, Cash has done a great job. Dombrowski of the Tigers will probably win Executive of the year, however. Thanks for commenting.
